Facebook is testing ad formats in an attempt to eliminate friction from typical digital transactions that occur online.  This appears to be a test of the e-commerce equivalent of Lead Gen Form Ads, which has two benefits.  First, it makes the process smoother for the customer and greatly increases conversion rate.  Second, it happens to keep them within the Facebook/Instagram apps, which FB likes because it incentivizes further time spent on the platform. One of the biggest debates for Google ads advertisers is whether or not to use manual bidding or automated bidding strategies.
